We are thrilled to officially unveil the new look of the Tennessee Amateur Radio Association! You’ll notice a fresh logo and a completely redesigned website, but while our look has evolved, our core mission remains the same: to leave amateur radio better than we found it.
What Sets Us Apart?
TARA isn't just another radio group; we are a community built on a foundation of stewardship and support. We pride ourselves on a "friendly-first" attitude, ensuring that every operator—from the brand-new technician to the seasoned extra—feels welcome and valued.
Activity That Moves the Needle
We don't just talk about radio; we get on the air. Our association bolsters consistent activity through unique initiatives that keep your skills sharp and your mind busy:
Weekly Nets: Join us every week to check in and catch up with the community.
Simplex Saturdays: Pushing the limits of line-of-sight communication.
Winlink Wednesdays: Mastering the art of digital emergency messaging.
Monthly Workshops & Challenges: Remote learning and friendly competition to expand your technical horizons.
The Road Ahead
This rebranding is more than just a fresh coat of paint—it is the launchpad for TARA’s next level. Over the coming weeks and months, we have a series of major announcements that will redefine what you expect from an amateur radio organization.

One of the many services we offer is license testing, including an option for individuals to take their ham radio license exam from the comfort of their home. Our team is highly trained and dedicated to ensuring that the testing process is both secure and comfortable for all applicants.
We are dedicated to supporting our affiliate clubs by providing them with a variety of tools and resources to foster their growth and success. Additionally, we host quarterly club leadership meetings that promote a collaborative network, along with numerous other initiatives aimed at connecting volunteers throughout the state!
Every year, the leadership of the association organizes an event in each region of the state to bring our members together in person, fostering fellowship while enjoying radio.
Our weekly statewide network spans a vast area of the state. We utilize this net as a tool to connect with members and share information about TARA and our affiliates.
The association's self-built and hosted digital communication system integrates all digital voice modes for interoperability, featuring over 175 connection points across the state.
Monthly challenges and contest-type activities to keep amateurs active on the air and engaged. We also host monthly webinars on topics that hams are interested in.
